Win XP pagefile madness

I have 2 partitions, one for the operating system, and the other for apps/pagefile (c: and d: respectivly). Usually with win2k i could disable all the memory dump/error reporting options and have the pagefile on D, but when i try that with XP (setting pagefile on c to 0/no page file) i get two - one on c: and one on d:
The only way i can get rid of this file is to set nothing on d: - then i can delete it, but that means my computer is running without a pagefile at all.
Anyone had similar experiences and know how to get around it?
btw the file it creates on c is ALWAYS 1536 mb (which incidently is the size windows recomends to use, and is also the size that i set it to on d
cheers for any help

You should be able to do this.

Try this: create a pagefile on drive D:. Reboot. Go back in and set the min/max size of the pagefil on drive C: to zero.

If that doesn't work, hack HKLM\System\CCS\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\Pagingfiles

thanks for the tips - unfortunatly I've tried both and no joy - even when the registry is showing no page on c:\ the file is still there and cannot be deleted... this is driving me nuts, because I'm left with about 148mb free space on c:\ right now. think I'll have to go back to no page file until I get around to going back to win2k again. This is just too plain weird for me

On a side note even if you disable the page file WinXP creates a temporary (emergency) page file everytime you boot up (its small however)

A page file is required for NT OSes to operate.

If you get rid of the page file in NT4/2k the OS will refuse to boot! These OSes do not create a temp page file like XP does.

Since I have 512MB of RAM, I had disabled my swapfile in WinXP. However, I cannot locate any temporary file anywhere in my system (like the one you have mentioned). Do u have any more info on it?
