Win XP & Netbeui not recognized-why?

I post again to make the problem as clear as possible .... We all know the procedure of installing Netbeui in WinXP-trouble is that although I copy the two files in the relevant system folders, the protocol doesn't appear when I click "install" in a connection's networking properties
What could cause this? It's sth that everyone running XP does without a glitch but not me...Could the files taken from the XP cd be corrupted some way? Would installing XP over from the cd (like "upgrading") help fix the issue?? Is it possible at first?

Have you actually installed netbeui through you nic properties and made sure it is actually bound to the nic.

"Right click on the My Network places icon and choose properties from the menu. Then Right click on Local Area Connections and see if Netbeui is showing as being installed. If not choose install and point to the folder on the XP CD that contains the netbeui files and you shoud be good to go"
