Win XP Internet Connection lost. Help, please.

Running Win XP Pro on my Dell PowerEdge 500SC. I have lost my internet connection. 🙁

I can ping 127.0.0.1 and ipconfig gives me the DHCP assigned address 192.168.xxx.xxx. Gateway info is also correct.
Other computers connected to my DLink router can connect to the internet. They are running Win98SE.

I've tried ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew but get the message "The operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation."

I'm pretty sure it's a Win XP OS problem since I tried another OS (Win2K) and my Internet connection worked fine.

Any possible resolutions to this problem?
