Win XP Installation Error--Help PLEASE

I'm trying my darndest to install Windows XP, but it tells me one of the components isn't installed and keeps giving the following error after the file copy is complete:

Installation Failed F:\1386\asms. Error Message The parameter is incorrect

I tried a clean install and got the same message. I'd really like to get this beta to work so I can decide to upgrade or not. Any help would be appreciated.
