Are you conecting the cd/dvd drive to the reg ide conection or a add. raid conection.

My board has an onboard raid and if I connect my cd rom or dvd drive to it (even if it is set for reg non raid operation), they can be seen in the bios but not by xp.

I connect my hard drive to the raid and cd/dvd to the regular ide conections and they work great.
I like running my rig with all drives having their own channel.

hope that helps
peace

So you tried switching their roles as master and slave making sure the master is always on the end IDE connector? have you tried moving one to the HDD's cable as slave to see if that resolves the issue? Have you tried doing the install with just one drive and then connecting the other when your through? It could even be you need to flash the firmware on one or both of the drives. Sorry if I stated something you already tried :) Also it's possible your mobo needs a bios update if it hasn't been done already, I had a Lite On drive that would open and close endlessly so I had to swap it with one in another box and then later the board had a bios release that addressed the issue. Good luck and let us know how you're getting on :)

ok I figured out the problem.

My drives keep disappearing whenever I install intel aplication accelerator.

Now is this because my drives are older?

creative 52x cdrom and a generic 16x dvd drive???

If I bought new ones would it wokr?
