I have 2 home systems and 1 at the office on WIN 98SE Full install. I am building a new system, and WIN XP seems to be stable now with most of the bugs worked out. I am trying to decide between the Home version or Pro version? At home I have a Linksys Router, Cable Modem, and two computers hooked up using Win 98SE and both Computers are AMD Builds. I will be adding this third computer with XP1600, MSI KT3Ultra2, 512K 2100 Crucial, Linksys Lan Card,...now I heard that Pro supports the newer processors for Hyperthreading so thats a plus, is there anything else major that warrants Pro over Home? Oh, I use the computers alot for work at home and alot of gaming :) if that makes a difference...or should I just stick with 98SE for now. Thanks
PS I did a search twice but turned up nothing in these foruems, odd...maybe I used the wrong search terms, so I am asking this question and sorry if it is a repost.

My vote goes for the Pro version! there are some additional inbuilt features that you might find handy sooner or later.
WinXP Pro got robust network administrative tools and enhanced file security, Group Policy, Access Control, Encrypting File System etc...check out this link.

Ah thanks Booter! Dam I went to the Microsoft XP area many times, I wonder why I didn't find this comparison before?..thanks just what I was looking for a side by side comparison. I just hate having to pay an OS for each system I have in my house if I want to upgrade the older computers too which I will do eventually, luckily I got an XP Pro Full Version on the way now for $50, and I can get future versions of PRO academic upgrade for about $90. Thanks for your help.

Also, XP Pro has remote desktop connection if you want to connect to your computer at home from work. XP Home doesn't have this. But you probably saw it in the comparison chart already ;)
