Win XP degrading in performance suddenly after a few days

I installed XP (clean format) in fat32 format & it ran great for about a week, then suddenly, for no reason, was real slow.

i ran benchmarks, for cpu & 3d benchmarks & all still got similiar scores, but just openning up IE or an office program it took twice as long.

So thought just an error somewhere & re-formatted & changed to NTSF & installed again. ran great......for ywo days then today, i had a system freeze where i couldnt shut down, just stayed on when i clicked shut down , or restart. couldnt end a simply tax program i have installed no worries before. Couldnt even end it through process on the task manager.

& now the system is back to openning apps up so slow!!

Must say it does open apps fast if they have been openned recently & are in RAM.

PS are u suppose to have two rundll32.exe 's runnnig ? both of different sizes??

thanx for any help given

You can if two running programs both use that.
Something is crapping up the rig. Back up your data and "Get Methodical" with da b1tch.
What do you have installed?

yeah i read ur other post Jimbo,
& i have been having the task mgr in the sys tray to watch its progress & its not like getting stuck up on or near max, moves up & down freely like it did when running smooth.

Its not something that comes & goes, its after a certain time (a week the first time & two days this time ) it like hits a wall,
no matter what i do , its just simply runs slow!
restart til as much as i want & it doesnt make a difference.

what do u mean "get Methodical" ??

even the mouse is stoping & starting as i move it , writing this right now.

it doesnt seem to be a problem accessing RAM like i said, but accessing the HDD, apps i havent openned either at all since i turned it on, or not in awhile take about twice as long as it did early on.

& for benchmarks, i have 3Dmark99/2000/2001SE & PC Mark 2002.

hmmm, now noticing that the fading in of the start menu is a tad slow, perhaps twice as slow as before as it is already quick.

does anyone have an idea???

i am sick of re-formatting, for it to just last a little while, then gotta do it again !!!!!

In the most simple terms we burn it down and rebuild stick by stick until we either recreate the problem (and know what causes it) or we side step the ordeal all togeather and the problem does not reoccur. 😛

What programs do you have installed?

oh ok,
make sense, what i do to sort out problems.

but this seems so random.
& have installed heaps of programs

only program i think i installed around the same time as this happening & had problems with in Win98 even is iMesh.

installed
Norton 2002
Office 2000
Giga-byte MoBo monitor
MaxMem ( RAM Monitor)
ICQ
Audio rack (came with sound card, updated !)
Download Acc. Plus
Epson Printer Monitor
KB & Mouse software
Pop-Up Ad killer
AverTV drivers & Program, Tuner card
a few games & benchmark programs
Yahoo Companion & Messenger
all the Updates
Realplayer
Nvidia Detonator drivers (v28.XX)

i am thinking maybe iMesh

but from memory i closed that before & it didnt help.........
