I have Windows XP and recently when I put in a CD id does not start playing automaticaly. I just get a opened folder with all the tracks so I have to play them manualy. I also cannot use the WMP8 DVD player as I get some error saying it cannot play the movie at this time but PowerDVD works perfectly. Does anybody know how to enable Autorum and to get the DVD player of WMP8 to work.

Thanks

I noticed that I only had my CD-RW installed when I installed XP and it was drive G:. Now I put in my DVD drive, a Pioneer 114 as g: and the CD-RW as H:, I noticed that whenever I put a software CD in G: it autoruns normaly but in H: I get a folder with the files on the CD. For audio CDs I get a folder of track that I can only play manualy regardles of which drive I put it in. Although I only have one audio cable conected my sound card and only one drive can only play CDs, I still want both drives to act the same regarding autoplay for audio CDs and data CDs like it did when I used Win ME with the same setup.

Thanks Aggain.

I figured out the autoplay problem. I installed the CD-RW as H: and the DVD as G: XP nicely and quickly detected and Identified the new hardware setup and installed it but it also said that I had to restart for the system to function properly. I finaly restarted and now autoplay on the DVD and CD-RW works great but the I still cannot play DVDs with WMP8 and the more detailed error says "Error ID = 0xC00D116A, Remedy ID = 0x00000000" after I click details in the WMP8 error prompt. PowerDVD works fine so this is not my biggest concern but I would like to get it to work anyways. By the way, I have the ATI Radeon 32 MB DDR with the latest ATI drivers and I am quite sure I have more then enough power to play DVDs.

Thank You

i had to turn my color quality to 16bit to get dvds to play in wmp8. it won't do it at 32 or 24. this might be related to my machine (ati rage mobility m) but it's something to try.

Thanks "fastcobra" but you like is a little wong it's actualy www.xp-erience.org and then go to the downloads section. Also the forums have some helpful posts regarding the Media DVD player and PowerDVD 4.

I can play in any color depth but I have a Radeon and maybe XP doesn't run as well with older video adapters like the rage mobility.
