WIN XP Corprate, Installation Issues

I just received XP corp. and it fails to install a file named oembios.bi_. I've tried copying this file to the HDD and I recieve a copy error. But under DOS it copies but the file on the destination is smaller than the source by about 25,000 bytes. During the install if I skip the file the install continues but when I get into XP I cant login and I receive a message about product activation followed by a hex #. This has me frustrated and any help is appreciated.

Well did you burn the image correctly?? 😀 j/k

I am using the corporate version and have no problems whatsoever.

I did not burn it, I received it from a friend. I don't know why just this file is giving me problems. But I can enter the OS under safe mode.

the only reason I can think of as to why it might be doing this is beacause the file on the disk is corrupt, however you did say that you got it from your friend. This means that he has probably installed the OS from the same disk. I would recommend trying to boot from the CD or the boot disks and try doing a repair of windows. Beyond this I would make sure that the CD is not scratched, perhaps in transit something might have happened to it.

the transfering of MS software is illegal

No it's not. Only in the case of the Action Pack or MSDN is it illegal. Any purchased license may be transferred.

you should check with your friend that he tried it and it worked...I just was having probelms installing and I reburned the iso file at a slower speed and it works fine know...you must burn disc at once for it to work as well.
