I installed it for the first time just for learning purposes. after installation trying to get to the desktop for the first time I get prompted to enter the username and password. I get this error:

the specified domain eith does not exist or could not be contacted

I just decided to reinstall and see if I did something wrong. I don't have the problem anymore, nor do I know what I did?

Are you sure you had actually completed the installation the first time through? You would get that message during the installation if you were trying to join a domain that wasn't there. (Or if you are trying to join a domain that is there but Windows does not have a driver for your NIC.)

Just like any other OS, during installation you need to to create a passoword for the administrator account. At logon the user name should be Administrator and password...well I don't know what password you used!!!

I believe this was the problem. I did finish the installation. I was at the login screen that loads just before you get to the desktop everytime you boot your computer.

Based on the error message you were recieving it does not sound like that is the case.
