I am trying to hook up a network at my house and share the cable modem. So far I have both computers hooked up to the router and all the lights come on showing that the router can see both computers. However, only the win2k computer has access to the cable modem.

The win me computer has access if it is directly plugged into the cable modem. The win me computer is using a USB-ethernet cable. When I check in "winipcfg" it shows that it is getting an IP. The one difference I noticed was the subnet mask on the two computers were different.

Also from the router's page, I can only see the win2k computer.

Appreciate any help - thanks!

DHCP enabled on the router?

WinME obtain IP via DHCP?

Subnets should be the same.

Can the 2000 box access the internet?

And who is your ISP? With some you might have to clone the MAC address to the router in order for your ISP to allow connection.

Yes, DHCP is enabled on the router.

The router currently has a cloned MAC address.

The ISP is AT&T broadband.

The 2000 box does have access to the internet while plugged into the router.

How do I check to be sure the WinME box has settings for obtain IP via DHCP?

I have settings on the WinME box as follows: AutoIP, Disable DNS, Disable WINS, use DHCP for WINS resolution.
