Ok, im hoping someone can help me here. I have a old back up file (used the backup utility that comes with Win XP pro), and I don't want to restore, but only want to open up the backup file and take out specific files within it. Can this be done?? Thanks!

BTW: This is a different installation of windows XP Pro that that backup.bkf file was created on, so backing up the file to a seperate folder on another drive/folder unfortunately is not an option.

That doesn't apply to me because im on a different installation. Once you format and re-install, you are no longer able to go that route, as the .bkf file will not be accepted by the utility.
