Win 98 stuck in safe mode

Computer is using Windows 98.Its stuck in safe mode,when i try placing in normal mode it gives a "Windows Protection Error" how do i get my comp out of safe mode and back to normal? =x
 
Give us some more details about your system (Eg,Proc, mainboard,etc.). Also, Right off the top, are you overclocking? Did this happen out of the blue, Or have you recently installed programs and/or upgraded any drivers and now this happens?
 
Its a friends comp.No overclocking.I figured it was jsut software related,my mistake.Its a Compaq Desktop.Ill try to get some more info tomorow.
