Win 98 - Lost Product ID

Hi,

I lost the Product ID necessary for a re-install of my Windows 98 operating system. I have the actual cd but I unfortunately cannot locate the original case that had the Windows Product ID number on it.

Can someone kindly tell me how to get the Product ID from the cd software itself. I know its there, but I just don't know what file to look for it in.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Go to Start/Run. Type Regedit and click OK. In regedit, select the Edit drop down menu and select find. Type Productkey in the box and click find next and it might take it a few seconds to find the entry and it will highlite the entry where the Info is. Be careful to avoid changing anything though.
