win 98 hangs?

um...on friday night..i noticed...my comp BOOT SO SLOW.
but then somehow saturday nite...it BOOTS UP REALLY SLOw, but on the login screen IT freezes...now sunday....IT WONT EVEN BOOT UP NOW!!!!...only when it is in safe mode when it "acts" fine...what is the problem?
 
Have you installed any new piece of hardware / software?

Scanned for viruses? But then a virus would effect your system even in safe mode.

What do you mean it won't boot up? What happens when you press the power button? Fans working? Freeze on the splash screen?

She's right. Need more info. Did you add any new hardware or software lately? That might be the prob. Even running defrag might help. Without any further info..It's almost impossible to comeup with a solution to your problem.
 
i didnt add anything...well...as you know right now it is thankgiving week....so i took my computer home you know ? to study for the finals... and...well..i didnt add anything to it...just that i tried so many different monitors?
will that corrupt the regeistry files?
