HI
My daughter gave me her laptop that has win 8.0 installed on it. She bought it right after win 8 came out. The laptop is a Toshiba satellite unit. She has had a hard time getting used to the new win 8.0. It's been a frustrating time for her. I've had a rough time getting used to the new win 8. Mainly I have "hacked" my way around and have been able to do a few things with it.
My daughter is thinking of selling the laptop and has someone who will buy it but the buyer wants win 8.1 installed on it.
When my daughter bought the laptop she never created the restore disks, etc. I did that a few days ago.
I asked her for all the documentation, etc that came with the unit and she can't find it!!! sigh....
My question is, if I upgrade to win8.1 and if the upgrade process asks for the original discs, can I use the recover/restore discs I made as prof there is a original win 8 install on the pc?
I've already updated some of the drivers to work with win8.1.
Again will the recover discs be ok to use as proff of original install?
Thanks

Hugh is right, this is the wrong forum. The answer to your question is easy though. You don't need proof to upgrade. Just go into the store to start the install.

No problem! Just wanted to add that if you don't see the upgrade in the store, then you need to run windows update, then go back to the store.

You need to have a prerequisite installed before Windows 8.1 is available in the MS Store. The prereq can also be downloaded and installed from the normal Windows Update. Once that is done, the Windows 8.1 update should be available in the MS Store.
