Win 8 keeps resetting itself

I absolutely love Windows 8, but I've just started having a problem with it resetting itself constantly when it's "applying updates" that I just downloaded through the control panel.

Is there any way to force a boot or do I have to completely uninstall?

Windows 8 has two built-in features for restoring functionality; Reset your PC and Refresh your PC. Both of these have to be manually initiated by you. Do you mean it keeps "restarting" after the Applying Updates screen is displayed? If so; describe which screen you're seeing just before it restarts again (I'm assuming it never boots back to the desktop).

Paul ok some of the updates that come from MS have to be rebooted; so when they finish it should normally just ask you to reboot now and not just reboot....
