Win 7 XP Mode Networking

I have an Olympus program used by transcriptionists that was last updated in 2003. There is no newer version and it will not run in RTM 64bit. I got it working in XP mode but it is a program that requires access to the network file server for the dictation voice files. When I try to select the network location in the program it only shows the workgoup and not the shared network files or the PCs on the network. This is true whether I ran in the Virtual window or in XP mode. Any thoughts are appreciated.

What kind of networking are you using for the VM? I switched mine to bridged to simplify things, but you should be able to get it to work with NAT. First thing I would check is if name resolution is working for your internal network (nslookup fileserver and nslookup fileserver.fully-qualified-internal.domain from within the VM).

If that works try pinging the server. If that works try going to explorer and \\fileserver or just mounting it like Agman said.

I'm assuming you're on a Domain?

Thanks
I will try these steps and see id they work. Not on a domain and probably don't have networking intstalled right for VM.
