Win 7 x64 and firefox. How?

I cannot get this crap to install.

Clean install even.

They don't even list a x64 version that I'm seeing.

Can you link what you installed please?
 
Go to getfirefox.com, download the browser and install it by right clicking and choosing to run it as admin. You can also right click the exe file, choose properties, the compatibility tab and then check the run as admin box.

I suspect you are trying to install FF on a standard user account, but Firefox requires you to manually elevate it to write to your programs folder or to change the directory to a location (Your user files) that doesn't not require admin privileges to write to. Just change the directory to your user folder if you do not have the admin password to install it to the programs folder on the C drive.

32 bit Firefox works fine on Windows 7 x64.

grab the installer that has firefox already in it and you never have to install it again on any os. I keep it on one of my hard drives and run it from there on any os I use without ever having to reinstall or set it back up. It keeps all settings/addons/etc
 
Bah, Got it.

Was an issue between not right clicking and running as admin (since I'm a admin didn't think to do this) and I was using IE x64 and it wasn't displaying anything correctly and I was having a hell of a time finding the download on firefox's site.

Ditto.

Mozilla.com -> Download Firefox -> Double Click setup.exe -> Enter admin password for UAC -> Answer Firefox setup dialog boxes -> Use Firefox.

Absolutely no issues for me. Opera 10 beta and Chrome installed simply as well.

What is the advantages of making sure use portable applications for everything? What happens when I double click on the exe will it add new files/hidden files somewhere like some applications do that do not need to be installed? Where is all of the program data and settings saved ?
 
I had no issues installing it on Windows 7 64 bit and even managed top copy over my full profile and settings with no issue. About the only bug I have run into so far is with DownThemAll. For some reason anytime it does an update the right click DownThemAll option disappears even though it is checked enabled in the settings. Only way I have found to restore it is to go to the plugins page and tell it to install it again.
 
AFAIK, there isn't an x64 version. It installs in the /program files/x86/ directory so I'm assuming it's 32 bit. I had no problems installing FF in Windows 7/Vista 64 bit. Runs like a champ.
 
I have this problem too. At first, I had no issues with the UAC box popping up when I ran it, but now I have to click yes each time I run it. I even changed the permissions of firefox.exe to run as administrator.

I've been running a 64-bit on Linux for years so I can't imagine there's not a 64-bit build for Windows...

Well, I don't see one anywhere on the FF site. Maybe if you have a link to the Linux 64 bit version...I could go from there. Thanks.
