I've posted the same problem elsewhere and from all the info i could put in given below. please help.

Hi,

my specs are

Motherboard Intel DH55pj
Ram1 2gb kingston 1333mhz (old previously installed )
Ram2 4gb kingston 1600mhz (newly purchased )
cpu Core i3
radeon hd5450 1 gb ddr2
450 wat psu

My motherboard (Intel DH55pj) officially supports 1033 and 1333 mhz ram. When i went to my local market for an upgrade i could not find any new 1333 mhz ram from a reputable company so i went to the original shop i bought this pc from and asked what i could do? they told me that a 1600 mhz ram would work. I was skeptical so they said they would install it in my system to test. They installed it and my system detected it and was working properly so i bought it.

At that time it had a 32 bit Win7 ultimate installed. when i ran cpu id, the memory tab showed 6 GB total, dual channel with 665 mhz. i wanted to install 64 bit version because my win 32 bit was only using 3.25 GB. win7 ran perfectly with no problems.

I tried installing win ultimate 64 bit but the setup would be stuck at win logo right at start. Not knowing what to do i pulled out the 4 GB stick and successfully installed the 64 bit version with 2 GB in mobo only. My thinking was if the 32 bit picked up the extra ram so should this 64 bit one.

Unfortunately that did not work. When i install the 4 GB stick and boot, win 7 fails to start. It shows me the option of 'start normally' or 'repair'. When i start normally the system restarts. When i try repair windows loading shows up and then blank screen. When i pull out the 4 GB stick, the system starts successfully albeit it shows 'memory decreased, press enter to continue' message before starting windows. i tried f8-> safe mode but that also results in restart.

I have already tried to change slots by putting in 4 GB stick where the 2 GB stick was and removing the 2 GB stick entirely, but newly installed win7 wont start with that either. The bios detects both sticks (6144 MB), says its in dual channel. also, the 32 bit system detected it and from the post i put at toms earlier i was told that my system is using lower clock of 1333 to match both sticks.

If i remember correctly the 4 GB stick has black modules/chips on one side only, while the 2 GB stick has modules/chips on both sides. I think that means 4 GB stick is single sided (SS) and 2 GB stick is double sided (DS). Please excuse my ignorance if i am wrong.

Right now the bios shows both rams perfectly well. Perhaps it is windows itself? Neither will it boot up with 4 GB stick (alone or with 2 GB stick) or allow me to install new OS as it gets stuck at win logo? i will try to install the 32 bit with 6 GB or if that does not work install 32 bit Win7 with 2 GB installed and try to add 4 GB later.

Also, Does anybody have any idea what this message "table mismatch - updating remote PC assist technology setting new table fingerprint [complete]" means? it showed up repeatedly when i was experimenting with removing/installing/exchanging rams when trying to get windows to work. It showed up whenever some hardware change took place.

Your help would be deeply appreciated.

Well, the guy is right, whatever speed the memory is, as long as its same type, will run at the speed of the lowest stick.
You could try running mem diagnostics at f8 .. I would bet the 4gb stick is defective

I'll try memtest as soon as i can but the 4 gb stick was working with 32 bit os. When they added the stick and powered on hte pc it showed up and no windows boot failure. I ran that os (with 3.25 out of 6 usable) for more then a week before deciding on upgrading to 64 bit system and that is when the problems started.

One thing: try resetting your bios to default settings.. dunno

Already tried that but no luck :| tried repair, safe mode, normal startup, changed slots. nothing works. if it had only not worked at the shop in the first place i would not have been stuck in this mess.

Most memory companies have nice warranties. RMA the 4GB stick after you run memtest. It will show errors. Ram often will fail within the first few months / days, but I have had a few sticks of memory fail after a year. I can;t explain why.
