Question Win 7 nag screen

I am having problems with an old laptop that was a dell refurb. It has a legal copy of win 7. So why is it telling me that my copy is not a legal copy after years of being fine? I am using it as a media center computer so I don't want to upgrade. It does what it needs to do and win 10 or 11 won't. How do I nix the nag messages when I am streaming video? I when I try to authenticate, it wants me to install win 11.

What's the reason not to upgrade? There are many free/open source media centers.

You can also install Open Shell Menu if you don't like Win10/11 Start menu.

If it ain't broke why mess with it. I don't have the time to deal with it. It works as a dvr and I can stream stuff. I never watch live tv. I must skip commercials. I use win 10 at work and it does not impress me. Does the same thing as XP but harder to change settings etc. I am familiar with media center and have used it for a long time.

Well, it's broke if it can't authenticate and gives you constant nag messages, unless you are able to fix it

MediaPortal, NextPVR, Kodi all support TV recording.

I have not exhausted all options yet. I probably have a disk image I can load and then shut off updates after that. I have a valid sticker with the codes on it. Just need a place to put the numbers in.

I assume is Professional edition. Download this file: ARBbeta.zip

Extract/unzip contents. Find activation_restore.exe and run (Administrator privileges). If prompted to proceed, select Y/Yes, OK, or Enter (whichever is presented). When complete, exit console window and/or restart the computer. If your DELL BIOS has the OEM digital license marker for Windows 7, this will install the digital certificate file and OEM product key for DELL. After restarting, check product activation status.

If not using Professional edition, this particular one won't work. Specify which edition and I'll upload the right one.

Disabling Windows 7 end of support notifications is easy
-Open Control Panel
-Go to Programs > System and Security > Windows Update.
-If you see KB4493132 (this is the latest version of the update, if you have a different version, select it) in the list of Important updates to install, right-click on it and select Hide Update.
