Thank you! Method #2 worked perfectly for me. Nice and clean install.

Did this too (regedit), and it worked. I tried to do a clean install with an old vista system disk already in the computer and it forced a dual-boot setup, which is not what I wanted, so I tried again with the regedit method. By the way, if you use this method and intend to switch to AHCI mode, I'd recommend removing or wiping any existing system disks rather than leaving them in the computer. Once I flipped the BIOS to AHCI mode, it would choke on my old Vista mechanical drive even though it was not set as the boot drive. Had to format the Vista drive off of the Windows CD. And yes, I even tried the regedit AHCI workaround on my Vista system disk (if you don't know what I'm referring about, check this out: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976).

By the way, Microsoft is selling this direct for $150 with a free Cisco N router. Might be a good value if you're looking at that router (worth ~$100).

Amazon has it for 125.00 as of today... good deal if you don't need a router. Otherwise, the MS deal is great.
