Win 2k Pro - Hosting share - random connection drops

Summary right off the bat.

One computer (client) - windows XP

one Compuoter (host/server) - Win 2k Pro

Share on Win2k Pro machine

Client computer attempts to connect to share - and gets random disconnects.

Share looks like - permissions are ok - tracert/ping tests all good - but it is extremely random.

Side note - Nortons Internet Security is on the host machine - should I remove it? I've heard of horror stories with it - on a hosted platform.
 
If you are using a router, then enable the traffic from the security software.
Else, sounds like a network cable is faulty!
