I have Windows 2000 Advanced Server with 2 NICs as a gateway. It is plugged into my ethernet hub with the 2 windows xp pro computers. the other NIC is plugged into my dorm room ethernet port. The workgroup has to be GCC in order for the computers to interface properly with the rest of the college LAN. I have gotten internet connection sharing to work before, between just 2 windows xp pro computers with this type of setup, but now i'm looking for a more sophisticated solution. I am trying to setup my Windows 2000 advanced server machine as a NAT router. I would be satisfied with any solution that gives me internet connectivity on all 3 computers with the Windows 2000 Advanced Server machine as the gateway... thank you.

I'm not quite following.

So are you asking for help setting up NAT on your win2k box?

ICS isn't cutting it for you?

I can't configure ICS to work from win 2k. It seems to be more complicated thatn Win xp's ICS. I checked the box to enable it, but that doesn't seem to work. ICS would be a fine solution, but i can't get it to work...

*bump*

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this setup working... any form of internet connection sharing will suffice... ICS, NAT, anthing else that I don't know of...

I just need the Win 2k machine to be the gateway.. thanx

it's not too complicated on win2k

setup NIC#1 for your college LAN settings. in tcp/ip properties, click on "enable ICS"

setup NIC#2 with IP 192.168.0.1, subnet 255.255.255.0

hook up all other computers, and reboot them.

have you done something similar to this?

Yes, I did exactly that, and the Win2k server has internet access, the other computers on my network can see and share files with each other and the server, but only the server has internet.

are all the other computers set to dhcp?

run winipcfg from a command prompt and see if they're assigned IP addresses
