win 2k file access

I'm running win2k and while fooling around with network sharing options I've somehow denied myself access to a folder on my hard drive. (idiot!) I am an administrator but it tells me access is denied when i try to open the folder. When I try to change the security settings for the folder in its properties i get the message, "You do not have permission to view or edit the current permission settings . . . ". When I try to "explore" the folder i get the exception "Privileged Instruction" so I don't know what else to do. Some one give me some tips please on how to get around this. Thanks.

First of all what is the name of the folder? It's not System Volume Information right?

If not then proceed. Right click the folder and go to Properties and choose the Security tab. Click on Advanaced and then go to the Owners tab. Choose yourself as the owner and check the box for replace owner on all object below this folder. Then click apply. it should allow you to take ownership of the folder and then you can set the permissions back on them.
