So my primary hard drive gave up the ghost. Got a new one, formatted, yadda yadda. My data drive isnt detected AT ALL. No even through Hardware.
I scan for new devices and it finds it. Yay! Doesnt list under My Computer though.
Go into Control Panel then into Disk Manager. It finds the drive as a Foreign drive. It sees it, but cant use it.
If I do a Revert to Basic will it destroy the data on the drive? Is this what I need to do to get the drive recognized?

Don't revert it, there should also be the option to import the drive. And this should be a good learning experience about one of the many reasons why Dynamic Disks are bad.

Another option is convert the dynamic to basic via mbr sector edit. If you had a Simple volume when it was a functional dynamic disk, you just have to change one hex location and you'll have a basic disk again. This won't work with other types of volumes, only Simple.
