Hello, I want to update my BIOS.
Running Windows 2000 SP1 on my C drive with NTFS.
I formated a disk in Windows 98 (another machine) with /s option (system disk). Then copied the BIOS files to the disk. When I boot up with this disk the machine reads the disk and then I get this error "NTLDR Missing, Please restart" I cannot get my machine to boot into DOS so that I can flash my BIOS.
Please help, I checked my BIOS and it is booting with floppy, cd, then HD... what else should I check?

Make a Win98 boot disk by going into the "Add/remove programs" applet in control panel.

Once it makes the boot disk, delete the files you dont want, and copy over your own autoexec.bat and config.sys files, and any other drivers/programs you may need.

I used to have the same problem until I did what I just told you.

I don't have windows 98, so I cannot do the make a boot disk. I boot disk i had ws made sometime ago. I had a friend send the files created on a system disk format which are:
COMMAND.COM
DRVSPACE.BIN
IO.SYS
MSDOS.SYS

.. so you suggest copying over my config.sys and autoexec.bat files from my Windows 2000 setup? I haven't tried that and will try soon.
Thanks.

SendTrash: just copying those file to a floppy that's formatted by W2k/NT won't work. The bootblock from the floppy still searches for the ntldr.

You'll have to get a bootable dos floppy from someone to flash your bios. http://www.obbit.se/~mike/bootfloppy.html has the necessary files to create one. There are probably more sources on the web.

"You have to have a Swedish Keyboard" hmm.... do you know of any other source? Does anyone have an image of a US bootdisk?

On second thought.. how do you change the settings in the autoexec.bat and config.sys
[autoexec.bat]
LOADHIGH KEYB.COM SV,850,KEYBOARD.SYS

here is the swedish code in the config
[config.sys]
; Svenska tecken
country=046,850,country.sys

**UPDATE** NM, it works.. I searched the web about boot disk images and got the PC-DOS 7 from IBM, it worked and I didn't have to learn Swedish. For future references this is where and what I got...
