win 2k and sound blaster live value!

I just installed win 2k server earlier today for a home network, for some reason my sound card is having a bit of trouble. The sound blaster live! value has surround sound so two outlets for front and rear. For some reason it's only running sound through one outlet.

I haven't had much time after installing everything to tweak around with it, but all the drivers were installed properly.

Are there any known issues with sound blaster cards? or just the value card?

If you're using the drivers included with Windows 2000, then no, they don't support the rear channel of the Live. You'll need to download the Liveware drivers from Creative's site to enable them. I wish you good luck with this card. Creative still desperately needs to upgrade the Win 2K drivers, as there are still many problems with them.

Thanks KZoo,

I also plan on making another (gaming) system in the next week or so, any sounds cards you recommend that work well with Win 2k?

I'd stay with the SBLive card in your gaming system. The Value card is still the best choice for gaming.

If you're building a gaming system, you might as well use Win98. Win98 is far superior in terms of both hardware and driver support. WinNT drivers, and to a lesser extent Win2K drivers are typically pretty bare. Some, like the SB LIve drivers, have some issues (like no EAX, at least no stable EAX).
