I am just getting used to win 2000. I am trying to set up folders for unique users on my LAN to access from their win 98 PCs. So, I put their user profile together under the user manager in win 2000... then set up a folder to share using just their ID... and then I logoff the win 98 machine and login as the user and then I try to access the folder for that user and it does not allow me. What am I missing? Are my win98 clients not really logging into my server? How do I do that? Thanks for your time

There is a way somehow. I had 98 and could access my wife's W2K which was the server with np. Of course this was peer to peer and I had no restrictions to what I could access. But it will work. Does work better though with both of us on 2000.

You have to add each 98 user to a users group in 2k. They have to have the same user name and password in the 2k setup that they use to log into their 98 clients. This should do it.

I just realized what I was doing wrong... had the drive as the default $D and therefore no folders inside would be allowed...
