I got the devlopers kit for 2000 that came with pro, server and adv. server. I want to install 2000 Pro on to a new computer that I just built. I already have it installed on my laptop.
My Problem is this.
I lost the sleve that has the reg code for 2000 pro. How do I get it again? Can I search my laptop for that code?

If not, I will install server, but this machine is for games, so I wonder if
2000 server will slow games down compared to 2000 Pro, any experiencs with this?

If all falls, I GUESS I can use win98.:(

that made no sense to me whatsoever. anyway...win98 supports certain games that win2k does not support.

Do you run win2k fobside?........

Anyway win2k ADV server should run all games as well as pro. I don't see why it shouldn't.

I had no problems playing Quake 3 Arena on Win2000 Pro or Advanced Server. Starsiege Tribes however was a different story. As I remember Half Life worked too.....

How do games run on win 2000 server, are they slower that Win98?

For example, unreal turny or Q3?

I'd assume that win2k server/advanced server would have degraded performance vs. win2k professional because server installs a lot more services and requires more resources. You can manually disable unused services, but that's a pain. Also, there seems to be more driver support for win2k pro compared with win2k advanced server. This is based on my experience with my video card. Counter Strike in software mode isn't the greatest.

Go to "start/run/regedit". Onnce in the registry expand "High Key Local Machine/Software/Microsoft/Windows" and click the "Current Version" entrie. Scroll down the right hand side and you'll find the product key.
This works in Win98/WinME, if it's not there in Win 2K, just use search (F3) once you're in Regedit and search for "Product Key".
