Man, looking at the very thought of this from an engineer's point of view, I would have shot myself long before I ever finished mixing this cd. I've had to listen to some crappy songs over and over way too many times, but this is just too much. I have sympathy for whichever engineer got contracted to work on this cd.

Studio time is not the commodity it used to be. While home recording solutions have been available for years, there's a host of relatively cheap hardware and software that can rival anything a studio can produce. Also, I think a lot of crap today is overproduced. Is Jessica Simpson a really talented vocalist? It's generic pop music. Many legitimate singer/songwriters do some of their best work outside a studio anyway. William Hung putting out a CD just because he's a dork isn't going to come at the expense of the next Beck.

I hope what you wrote following "As far as the "William Hung, American Sambo" argument goes. It's full of bunk." isn't actually related to the article since if it is, then you horribly misread it since the whole point of it was that he's obviously not pretending, and that's the bad thing. Anyway, you can disagree with the article otherwise, it's a free country, but the way you wrote your post made it seem as if the article was suggesting something it's not.

my writing is not related to the sambo article at all. i wrote that entry even before reading about sambo (hence a day difference between the sambo link and my encounter) i included it in my entry because it was interesting and an aspect i never thought about before and still don't really completely believe.

Alternately:
"And weepul, feel free to credit the person who donated the sambo article as Tekdemon from AT"

;) I'm not really asking for credit, I was just reading your page and realized that you probably didn't realize I'm Cirrus from B$ heh

done. (^_^x) sorry bout that.

from my several encouters, i'd have to agree w/ ur friend.

The first thing you quoted from me was actually directed towards HarryK who had quoted you...that's probably why it made little sense in reference to your post heh.

Please don't put Phil Collins in the same sentence as Flock of Seagulls, Men at Work and Duran Duran. Well.. You can put him in with Duran Duran. Remember.. There was MUCH worse crap in the 80's than the bands that you mentioned. What about all the hair bands? How about pieces of crap like Huey Lewis.

Hey! Each of those bands made at least 1 song that I really liked...Men At Work=Overkill, Flock Of Seagulls=I ran (so far away), Duran Duran=Rio, Phil Collins(Genesis)=That's All, Huey Lewis=If this is it.

I saw William Hung on The Tonight Show last night...he is so SERIOUS all the time...hardly any sense of humor.

It boggles my mind that people would pay money to listen to this crap. It's one thing if it's a novelty, but to go out and pay good money to have the whole CD? I would think it would be enough to just catch the stupid commercials and news that air all damn day long, for free.

I guess no one is buying his CD at the store, instead everyone is buying it online. #3 on Amazon Top Seller.

The thing with William Hung is that he is totally taking it too seriously. He's actually improving too unfortunately. His act is much more polished. He has a good band and dancers to back him. Better wardrode, etc.. The problem with this is that as he gets better, he improves himself and becomes mediocre. The whole appeal to William Hung is his cluelessness and his lack of talent. Moving him up to mediocrity is just shortening his 15 minutes of fame IMO.

That's the whole point. Plus, he's funny looking. :) The very worst thing that he could possibly do is fix his teeth. ;)

This has gone too far. It's time the world got tired of William Hung.

Yeah he sings a lot of the songs on his CD pretty OKAY but geez...cmon people! Are really bored enough to go out and buy this guy's CD just because we feel sorry for him? Yeah he does stand for the underdog in all of us but the amount of fame and attention he gets for being mediocre is stupendous. Why, most of us are mediocre everyday. Yet, this guy gets on stage for 5 minutes, singing really bad songs with crooked teeth and all of the sudden he's "the bomb".

And yes, I downloaded his CD as well as most of the "media materials" that were made about him since the whole Will Hung phenomenon started. At first it was pretty cool and funny but now it's just sad to see millions of people going crazy over this guy. I mean, cmon, seriously. He sucks!

my friend forced me to listen to his cd in my car today. well at least little bits of it.

i'd have to say that was quite possibly the worst thing ever, and my cd player has been tainted by that cd being in there. it was horrible. it sounded like a normal person except someone is making him sing while stabbing him in the chest with needles. really it was horrible.

the best song was the techno one, where the techno beats were good and almost masked his voice since all he had to do was say the word free over and over.
