Would you let random strangers so the person you love lives?

  • Yes I will

  • No I won't

  • I will take the deal even even if it 100 to 1.

  • I will give up the entire world before my loved one dies

I wish at least ten strangers dead on my way to work every morning so the incentive of saving a loved one appears to be superfluous.

If I had the Devil in my sights I would attack him.

I would fight to save the strangers and my own.

That's it.

On the slim chance the Devil is reading ATOT tonight... you can totally kill this guy off in exchange for a long life for my dogs.

win win for me. In the epic battle of notposting vs the devil... if you win, doggies are saved. If he wins, well...

You guys are limiting yourself to 3 dimensional thinking. What if one of the "random" ppl was instrumental in the Nazi's defeat in WW II? Or if that person introduced your parents to each other?

okay, if we're including people already dead...

there's been approximately 100,000,000,000 people who ever lived.

in the course of history, few people are irreplacable. most specific people who existed did the things they did as a natural course of events in their life. SO, if they didn't personally exist, someone else would have been there to do the same thing. modern history might change slightly, but won't be significantly different. the closer you get to modern age, of course, the more dramatic the impact might be...but also the more specific the people you'd have to kill to have an effect.

your odds of having any significant effect based on those odds is pretty bad.

If I don't know them, why would I give a flip if they bite it? People I don't know die every second.

That said, since this is the Devil, at least one of the random people will be your next child.

100:1

I'm in the top .1% of bad-asses; my children and wife are too. This means that 999 out of 1000 people deserve to die before my loved ones.

100:1 is a bargain.

You know very well we're not talking medicine here.

OK.

you are pre-programmed to favor your closest-genetic cohort.

whether you like it or not, you're going to shove 10 strangers into that fire to save your brother.

and you better hope to (your) god you do.

There was a twilight zone episode about a similar situation....

If it was in the twilight zone then you know there's something screwy...

Well, that's about 12 more quality people than I expected to find here.

Yep "I will give up the entire world before my loved one dies" are the real heroes.

I know enough people such as my neighbours i would sacrifice with a smile on my face, even to save people i cannot stand if i knew them.

Lets say the devil offers you a deal/

One of the people you love escapes death, but ten random strangers die instead in his/her place. Would you take it?

I think I would. 😱

According to my paranoid delusional neighbours i am the devil in person...
Both my neighbours are the biggest (probably pathological) liars and most negative people i have ever met... 🙄

I feast in the pleasure knowing that they will have to live with themselves and their view of the world for the rest of their lives and after. While i one day soon have new neighbours...

Why do they think this WG?

Nope, no need to fix it... exactly what you said and exactly what the vote was... "I will give up the entire world before my loved one dies" is the only thing that is "about 12".

True story.

Did you miss the words "more than I expected"? Does that not imply to you that I was referring to a number that had to be 12 or larger?

Or are you another one of those "selective readers"?
