First half and part of the 2nd half went well enough. I graduated and received my BS in CS with honors (the comprehensive exam, undergraduate thesis and senior project were all adequate (the last things standing in my way)). The US Army granted me a summer internship in R&D at one of their bases. Finally, I received a full research assistantship at a good university for my masters.

It went downhill quick once graduate school started and a series of unfortunate events and mistakes on my part caused the latter half to be rather miserable. But, I did manage to salvage it towards the end and ended up with good grades and I met the deadlines with the research project... just in time for a two week vacation from the lab.

So, I say good riddance!

It is good that you have have accomplished so much however. That will help insure a better tomorrow. I on the other hand have had a few semesters of accounting and thats about it. :awe:

2009 wasn't so bad for me... I didn't get cut in our layoffs last January, and things have been pretty stable for me in just about every way. Hopefully the new decade will bring good things for everyone.

That does sound like fun. Are you worried about getting cold feet? Even a little?

No, I'm always excited to share new ideas and I welcome opposition, so long as it makes sense. banal chatter bothers me, but I'm not worried, I look forward to the Q&A especially.

The economic recession and my 401k going down the shitter was enough for me.

Bad year. Dad died after battling cancer for four years in June. Mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in October, had surgery, currently undergoing chemotherapy, is bald because all her hair fell out and the chemo has a terrible effect on her each time, confining her to her bed for 3-4 days. Also, little sister had an ovarian cystectomy barely 10 days ago to remove three cysts. Older brother totaled his card in a 4-car pileup - on his birthday.

Spent a lot of time in hospitals this year. I was okay healthwise except that for the past few months, I can only sleep after I've been up for 20 hours or so. Which means I report to work every day on about 4 hours of sleep and usually sleep 2x10 hours over the weekend. And those 10-hours of sleep usually happen between 8PM-6AM which means I always sleep through interesting night-time stuff friends and family plan during the evenings.

And I worked January 1st 2010, 12:00 AM - 9:30 AM.

But it should all be okay this year. I've waited too long - this Saturday, I should have my i5 750/HD5850 rig. :)

Fuck 2009.
