Definitely. I need at least one game for my PS3, right? Looks good.

Hehe, I was just gonna post exactly the same thing! Had my PS3 for a couple of months now and said I will be getting FF13 for the PS3 because:

1. I have nada for the PS3 (except for BR movies)
2. I want one BR disc, not 15 DVD (for 360)
3. I want the best experience and thought that being it was a PS3 exclusive originally that it would play/look better on the PS3. but after seeing and reading the game and reviews of it I may not get it at all or at least until it is in the bargain-bin. Then I will get it fot the 360 for acheivements! :)

Yeah, I'm worried this game is going to sell horribly despite the fact that Square is adding the Xbox community. There seems to be just about zero interest overall.

I'll wait for all the reviews. FFX made me hate the series, as well I have gradually been losing interest in JRPGs as I get older.

Doubt it. I hated XII, didn't finish X. The problem is the total length. I don't have the time to game that I used to and a game that's something like 50 hours long is about 30 too long.

If its the same save point style system thats also a big knock. I hate that, I have to plan out gaming time to ensure I have enough free time that I don't just play for 45 minutes and then have to quit because I haven't reached a save yet and even then when I do reach a save point I wonder if the next one is 30 minutes or 1.5 hours away.

The battle system is maybe the only thing that could draw me in, I loved VII mostly because the materia system was relatively interesting though the fact that it came out when I had an abundance of free time probably helped.

I might get it. The last FF's I've played and beaten were the PS1 era ones. I completely skipped over the PS2 ones, and I may buy FF13, provided it gets good reviews. That said, I'm not that interested in jRPGs and other RPG's in general anyway (besides Mass Effect 2).

I am on the fence when it comes to FFXIII. I grew up playing FF and I have played all but one version released stateside. I have completed most, and was even patient enough to play through FFX-2. However that was a grind and as I get older I find myself losing interest in the JRPGs. We'll see what the review sites say on this one.

I am unsure if I want to pick this game up right when it comes out...I may wait a while until I can get it for cheap.

I hated XII, and it looks like all the steps "forward" they are taking with XIII are really unenjoyable...

I'll wait and see how the gaming community enjoys it first.

Based on the comments from the Japanese version apparently it's not that great, gameplay wise. A lot of negatives coming from being way too linear (the first 20-30 hours is just straight line), but nonetheless pretty graphics.

I'll still be getting it though.

One of the well-known Japanese peer review website (rated D):

hasn't FF always been linear, even more so with the later versions?

As of now, I plan on buying it. I just hope it hooks me in or I will get bored quickly with it. Everything from the screen shots looks great. As for the storyline, we shall see.

Yea, I'm not sure why being linear is a bad thing. Not every RPG has to have an open world where you goof around for a while before you decide to advance the story. Linear RPG's have a little more control over their story, and depending on how important story is to you, it shouldn't be a factor at all.

Typically, about 1/3 or so into the game you get access to the world map, which is filled with optional places, secrets, etc.
