my PSU/Video card/Motherboard are all getting replaced... And I know from previous experience that windows XP doesn't boot up when you switch some components, so I'm just wondering if there's any way to get around this without formating...

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Install Driver Cleaner.
Uninstall all related drivers in windows.
Boot into safe mode and run Driver Cleaner and Cab Cleaner.
Shut down the system.
Swap hardware.
Boot into windows and install:
a. Mobo drivers
b. Video drivers
c. Sound drivers (if not integrated and part of mobo drivers)

If you have any chance of pulling this off this process will boost your chances. It worked for me going from NF2 400 Ultra to NF3-250Gb, but I did do a clean install a week later when I had more time.

The reason I have to replace the PSU/Mobo/etc is because my PSU fried the mobo.... So I can't really start it up without new components

Sorry I should have clarified this

Are the new components identical to the fried parts? You know, you can follow the process I outlined, partially anyways.

Exchange the parts.
Boot into safe mode.
Uninstall all related drivers w/ Add/Remove Programs.
Reboot into safe mode again.
Install Driver Cleaner (I think it'll install in safe mode).
Run Driver Cleaner and Cab Cleaner.
Boot into windows and install your drivers (as noted above).

Do a repair reinstall (over the top) ... will redetect your hardware and shouldn't overwrite your info.
