will Whiskey Lake laptops have 14nm PCH chipset?

Intel chipsets are always made on the previous node, but for Whiskey Lake laptops, will they be made on the 14nm process? Some rumors that this is the case and I would hope so because they need as much help as they can get for Whiskey Lake. Also, how much of a difference would this make on a laptop?

I'm having trouble finding what process Whiskey Lake PCH is made on, can anyone chime in here?

The 14nm process allows it to add some features, like CNVi WiFi and the quad core audio DSP.

And YES its using the 14nm chipset. Why'd they use an older chipset? Amberlake chips, and most 300-series chipsets(except Z370 and maybe some H310 chipsets, not all) use 14nm chipset as well.

I'm really surprised Intel didn't advertise this more, it's not insignificant on a laptop, every little bit helps

You are welcome.

For chipsets, new processes bring new features. That's what's important. And that's what they advertise. Its not like they radically lower power use, or increase frequency or anything like that. TDP actually increased 0.4W with the latest discrete mobile chipsets. It's probably a bit different from the on-package chipsets the 15W U and lower power Y ones use, but yea, don't expect a decrease. They'll be identical.
