Will we see a Celemette (P4 Celeron) anytime down the road?

I was just was just wondering if anyone knew if there would ever be a Celemette, or is Intel in to much of a bind to produce one? Or do they have a trick up their sleeve? If anyone knows Please post here, because even tho, I am DIE-HARD AMD! (hell-yeah), I would like to know about this, and what FSB would they use? Also I asked because celeron2's run will be over soon due to the 1.2Ghz max on the OLD P-Pro core the P3, and Celeron2 is based on.:disgust:

Celeron is a castrated P3. Since P4 is already castrated, P4 based celeron is kindof redundant.

A P4 Celeron kinda defeats the purpose of value as it would require RDRAM at this point. We're just going to have to wait and see what Intel does. It's interesting why Intel chose to go this way with the P4. To make money on "misinformed" consumers? To further technology? To willingly throw the crown to AMD? Who knows.. but it's kinda speculation right now.

IMHO, there's no need for a Cellamette in the future cause in the low end market you'll find already the CelerMine100mhz and the Tualatin in the middle.
P4 is too expensive to produce, at least in the .18micron form.

Surely we wont be seeing celemette

but for the fact that P4 uses RAMBUS I have got some comments.

P4 is basically designed with RAMBUS in mind. The Dual Channel PC800 has the same bandwidth as the Processor FSB, at 3.2GB/s, it is tailored to go with the P4. P4 will prolly work best on dual channel PC800, better than single channel DDR at 2.1GB/s. You see it will be 'weird' since the FSB of P4 is 100MhzQDR and the speed of DDR is 133DDR, an obvious 'mismatch'. However, I think single channel DDR wont be 'far off' compared to Dual Channel PC800, due to the high lantecy of rambus. Dual Channel DDR will simply kick any RD PC800 dual I think. However, the cost of making 128bit interface is very expensive, but i dont think it will cost more than the cost of RDRAM

IMO, the P3 is the celeron now to the P4. Since the P3 is a step down from the P4 and it costs much less.

Intel has already let the P3 slip into the Celeron price range. With the Celeron going to 100Mhz FSB it isn't really a viable chip anymore. An 850 Celeron will just be an overclocked 566. The BX based chipset processors will end with the Coppermine-T. Tualatin will require a completely new motherboard. The trouble with the Rambus agreement will also enter the equation. Intel's only hope at producing an inexpensive processor solution is for an independent manufacturer, such as VIA, to make a DDR compatible chipset for them. Intel has already been going this way, whether they chose to or not. The only really viable chipset out of Intel since the BX has been the 815. I think Intel wants out of the chipset business. Intel is in trouble for a while.

Ok here is what I know, and I have already played with a P4 .. shh I work for Dell (which BTW starts shipping p4 systems VERY soon).... ne ways they use 400mhz FSB, and all boards right now are Dual channel 4 slot rambus boards using the intel 815chipset, the 2 models currently in production are the 1.4 and 1.5ghz (ph3ar) so be prepared cause Intel is gonna try to sell the crap outta P3's in the next few weeks (blue guys commercials) ne ways thats my 2 cents

Yeah, P4's can only work on the i850 mobos.
I agree w/syborg that the current P3 will replace the celeron as the cpus in intel value systems.
