Sanctions will be first, after rejecting the european plan the security council will go along. If Iran fails to comply afterwards Israel will likely bomb the enrichment facilities and reactor under construction.

How are you going to get sanctions given Russian and Chinese backing for the Iranians and both have veto power?

Russia urged Iran to not resume Enrichment...it appears they are on our side, and I doubt China would veto a security council action and piss off the people they are making all the money from.

1) Iran has supported the PLO and continues to provide "aid and comfort" to Isreali enemies. Hot air from the Iranian government is still enough to cause concern.

2) Hezobollah is an organization that has targeted Isreal. Therefore, in Isreal's eyes, their sponsors would also be fair targets.

Russia never said that
China already made it clear they would veto it.

So we (or Israel) bombs them...then what? Iran will rebuild, in deeper and more guarded installations. They will continue their nuclear program, but this time without the supervision of the IAEA, because I assure you any military action against them will force Iran to withdraw from the NPT and any U.N./International programs they have volunteered for in the past.

And just to make it clear, Iran has not broken any rules yet. Legally, they are untouchable.

And even if they did our own CIA and IAEA says 10 years out from a weapon.

Meanwhile, we are selling nuclear reactors to China who's actually threatened to nuke us. Remeber one of thier generals threatened to pepper us with nukes and that "hundreds" of American cities will be destroyed if we interfer in thier taiwan invasion plans.

As in Iraq the idiotic Bush administration is concerned about WMD's where they aren't instead of where they are.

Iran is a major regional power though. 70 million people, and a damn lot of oil.

Wow, 70 ,mil eh? Didn't know that many people were there.

I thought it was smaller.

Anybody know how much Oil we get from there???
I don't think we get any of our oil from Iran. But, Europe gets about 33% of theirs from Iran.

I could see a retalitory air strike.

A truck was intercepted with bombs like the Iranian army uses. Then Iran starts up their nuclear reactor. I wonder if Isreal will sneak in one night and drop some of those bunker busters they recently purchased. If we were not running an operation in Iraq, they might have already done so. I cant see the UN having the guts to do anything other than take a bribe.

What are we going to do, refuse to buy their oil?

Legally, untouchable. They haven't done anything wrong that would legally allow for a armed response. If they have, it's up to the UN to decided what to do, not the US.
