will war3 run on this machine even half decently.

i've got this spare machine at home, and well my main system is a lot faster hopefully this is fast enough to play.

now do you guys that can run war3 smoothly at 640x480 all settings on low . i just wanna be able to play it when i'm home at my parents and dont really wanna spend much more on this machine (i've already spent like $185) if i really dont have to.

now i ran war3 on a p3-500 laptop with 192mb and a 4mb ATI rage pro , and that was just horrible, but i think a tnt2 vanta is a little faster, but i'm not sure. anyone running a system and war3 on anything remotely like that machine.

i think a rage pro is about the same as a vanta ur video card is the main bottleneck. cpu is if you want large online battles.

Assuming you have a War3 CD, why not just try it and see?

I wouldnt have thought it would be THAT bad. Nefrodite is right about the bottlenecks though. Do all the normal 'Exit everything else first' stuff.

Edit: if that doesnt work then I would look to get a GF2 GTS / Radeon (your preference, my R7500 runs it perfectly) from the FS/FT forums.

the only difference between my system and your system is the video card.
Ive got a radeon 64MB (7200), and it runs fine at 800x600 (i don't have the guts to try and up the resolution)
well and i've got a hercules sound card to your onboard sound.

it's run smoothly so far for me, just give it a try i'd say.

my bro's duron850/gf2mx runs it decently with everything turned down, you'll be able to just barely play it but i hesitate to call it decent...

The proc is definitely enough, the video card just isnt going to cut it.
