Oh, this is painful. The upgrade bug has bit me on the ass, and is holding on tenaciously.
I built my computer (just check my rig) this summer, but decided to use my Geforce2 MX I had been given the last Christmas. While my 1ghz processor and 8KHA are not nearly top performing parts, the only activity that could be considered "intensive" I use my computer for is gaming, so I'm thinking a graphics upgrade is the only thing really limiting my framerates.
Recently, my friends have all built systems (with my help
), but their parents paid for the entire thing. They got high end graphics cards like GF3s ad Radeon 64meg SEs.
Needless to say, I am unbelievably jealous, and my video card feels less and less adequate by the day.
I've still got a pile of 400$ left from my summer job (I'm still just a poor young teenager), and I can spend most of it, as my gas money is covered and the like.
If I do upgrade, I can handle the decision as to what I should get myself.
The thing is, I need to know if I should just upgrade now and be done with it, or if prices ever drop significantly closer to christmas.
Do they? Or would I be better off getting one of those spiffy GF3 Ti 200's w/4 or 3.8 NS ram right now?
