I have a Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H with 16 GB ram with an i5-4670. I use it to livestream to YouTube and I have noticed that the CPU load is about 50% plus or minus. Will upgrading the CPU help or will I notice any difference? I am looking at an i7-4790.
BTW, both the i5 and i7 are quad core and I am using an nvidia GTX 1060 video card.

I think you could use Quick Sync and the CPU, or NVENC and the GPU? maybe you are using the CPU and not the GPU?

Seconded. I will point out that you may get more/better streaming options with NVenc since a 1060 is a newer product than Haswell, so there should be more modern codec support. I was about to point out that newer Intel iGPUs support newer codecs via QuickSync, but with a GPU like that under the hood, who really cares?

A 4790 might help a little, maybe. But using NVenc, I doubt it will make a big difference.

More on QuickSync codec support:

I see conflicting information on what formats are supported by NVenc. There's extensive support for H.264 at the very least:

All you're missing are the Turing improvements.
