Looking to replace my main components on the cheap.

Any opinions on this? I could upgrade to a 6600GT card but dont know if its worth the $80.

That board does not have a PCI-E video card slot. Either get a different board or get an AGP video card.

Do not get any video card with 64bit memory. They are very slow.

The CPU, ram, and mobo will go together.

u really should buy the 66gt for agp slot instead of 66. huge difference in speed. later on u may like to buy a second module of 512MB Ram. gives a nice kick in loading times and performance.

hmm, i kow u want to keep the price low, but think about an socket 939 system with a winchester CPU instead of Newcastle. I guess the COU would cost the same, id suggest to buy a winchester 3000+ and i cheap board liek the ECS KV2 Extreme or an ABIT AV8. Dunno whats cheaper. winchester offers u 3% more speed compared to newcastle of the same clock rate, less power consumption and less heat. the board may be 20$(?) more but its worth the lil extras imo. think about it 😉

ye, and s939 would give u more opportunities to upgrade ur pc later...like a 2nd ram module, as the 939 has dual channel mode, which can give some percent of speedup in certrain games and software, not a huge deal but if u want to upgrade u gonna recognize the difference. and there wont be any new CPU`s coming out for socket 754, so in a year or two u can easily upgrade or sell the board to someone who wants to upgrade...if the board aint that much more expensive u maybe like that advice. 😉

Skip the sis chipset, and go with nforce3 for asus or epox. The asus board is about $84 and the epox $70, both at newegg. The 2800 socket 754 should overclock to about 2.2 or 2.3 with an nforce board.
