I'm wanting to overhaul my current system, right now this is what I have.
P3 700Mhz. IBM 30GB HD
Pioneer Slot Load DVD, Plextor 12/10/32 Burner
SBLive Value Sound Card, Geforce2 GTS
Asus CUSL2 Mobo, 3DCool case

I was thinking of getting a P4 1.8Ghz and an Asus P4B266 mobo, with 256 or 512mb PC2100 DDR.
I'm also going to get a new HD. How does this sound so far?

I plan on keeping the video card for now, and keeping the DVD, Burner, and Sound card.

Also will my case still work for the new Mobo, since I have an Asus CUSL2 in there now?
And will I need to get a new Power Supply? I've been reading something about needing a new one for the P4.

Thanks for any help

You have to consider whether or not your current power supply has the correct leads coming out of it for the additional 12v requirements. I haven't installed too many p4s since AMD are such a better value but the few I did, I needed to upgrade the power supply to a nice branded unit with the additional connectors. As for the case itself, here again the ones I worked on needed some additional mounting pads to screw the CPU down to...the Asus P4T i once used had a special plate the you mount the MB to, then mounted the plate to the ATX case with a regular layout.

As for the other stuff it should all work..wanna sell your old stuff?
