Will this system run Medieval Total War 2?

I'm putting together a computer for my friend and his dad and they wanted me to make sure both their computers were powerful enough to run Medieval Total War 2.

System specs:
CPU - AMD X2 4200+ socket AM2
Motherboard - Asus M2N-E
RAM - Patriot Extreme Performance 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400 Dual Channel
Hard Drive - Seagate 320GB SATA II
Video Card - ATI Radeon X1950 Pro

Since the minimum system requirements are 1.8 ghz CPU, 512MB RAM, 128MB video card, and 11GB of free harddrive space, I would say the system I am building them will handle the game fine, but I am concerned because he says that the game lags and pauses for 10 seconds at a time on his current Alienware with 3.2GHz Pentium 4 HT and NVIDIA 7800GTX.

Can anybody confirm that these system specs are adequate for running the game?

Thanks

That system should run Medieval 2 without a problem. I'd say the lag and pauses on the 3.2Ghz P4 and 7800GTX are being caused by something else. Drivers, fragmented hdd, etc.

Similar question/threadjack: will it run on my laptop, T2300, 2GB memory, GMA 950, 1280x800 (or 1024x768 if it doesn't do WS)?

Your video card is going to be the weak point.

Graphics Card*: 128MB Hardware Accelerated video card with Shader 1 suppor tand the latest drivers. Must be 100% DirectX® 9.0c compatible. (256 MB NVIDIA® GeForce? 7300 or greater or ATI® Radeon® X1600 or greater recommended)

Yeah, Medieval 2 is definitely a video card intensive game.

I used to play @ 1280x1024 on my 7800GS AGP and while performance was acceptable, it'd get very choppy at times, specially when moving the camera around.

I can't imagine how it'd play on integrated video...at any rate, you could always download the demo and give it a shot. The game might be playable at 1024x600 if you turn everything down.
