Will this fry my CPU?

I just ordered a Shuttle AK31A and a Athlon 1800+ XP Cpu and I have some concerns. If the Bios is not flashed to recognize the new Athlon XP CPU will it fry it when I boot it up on the new CPU to flash the bios?

I can use my "old" 1.2 gig T-bird to flash it but it is kind of a pain in the ars because I just sold the whole combo and I really don't want to take it apart.
