I have found a cheap Modem in the US(SpeedStream 5360). But im not a 100% it will work here in Eastern Canada(Quebec).

Ive got this from the seller: E RFC 2684 (formerly 1483)
Chipset Alcatel MicroElectronics,

And this from my future provider said I need: Modulation: G.dmt | Protocole: RFC1483 or RFC2516 (PPPoE) | Chipset: Alcatel compatible | DSLAM: Alcatel

Chipset; check - RFC 1483; not sure, im mean formely?!? Can someone light a candle for me please?

Thanks

The only way to really know if a DSL modem will work with the service in your area is to call the provider and ask them about any compatibility issues with the specific modem. I have seen cases where a modem meets the basic listed requirements but it still doesn't work with the ISP's network. We can make guesses based on the chipset of the modem and the ISP's requirements, but only they will know for sure if it will work.

Ok, Il left a message to the tech support but im not sure I will have my response in time before my sale end.

Anyway, I now know that my future provider sell those SpeedStream 5360 as well so the question now really is; does American and Canadian model have the same chipset and compatibility?

Anyone know the anwser to this one?!

Thanks again!
