Will this be a bait and switch?

An odd thought occurred to me today; I admit this is approaching Aluminium Stetson territory, but I'll throw it out there anyway:

What if it's a delayed bait and switch? Governor Palin stays on the ticket through the election, then after inauguration is "forced to withdraw for personal reasons" (so-called Troopergate, family crisis, whatever) and President McCain gets the Democratic Senate to confirm as Vice President his selection of...

Joseph Lieberman.

It's the only way he could get his pick into office, considering what he would have gone through at the RNC proposing a McCain/Lieberman ticket.

There. I said it. Please tell me I'm loonie.

it's certainly a possibility, but he'd probably manage the coup de grace of pissing off both sides of the senate in one swift move. bitter over losing yet another election, the democrats will be giving McCain a hard time no matter what he does.

but more to the point, once elected, the president has no power to force the vice president to do anything.

Speculation being that he already knows something that will make her want to resign, not that he could somehow fire her.

Also, this would give the Democrats a presence in the Executive, and an opportunity to put a real Democrat in what is now technically an Independent Senate seat, with President McCain convinced he could sell his Republican allies that Senator Lieberman is the most conservative pick he could get the Senate to confirm.

Mon Dieu, I'm really pushing it with this crap...

So hows that republican kool-aid taste? If a dem had done this the repub's would have a feild day and it be all over fox 24hrs a day and them asking why the "liberal" media is ignoring it.

Meh, I doubt it (I would go into Bill C firing troopers who spoke of his bimbo's but would rather not).

The thing is, and nobody's noticed, Obama's never been in a position to fire anybody, unless you're talking about some campaign staff. Neither has Biden or McCain. Just shows how much authority they've actually NOT had. That's why I'm not happy we're gonna end up with a Senator one way or the other as President.

At McCain's level in the Navy; he had the authority to fire (as in replace) a non performing officer.

Doing so, would end an officer's career in the Navy.
