Will this 300W amd approved psu work with 1800+ XP?

Hi, long time reader, but his is only my second post, so forgive me if I ramble on a bit or screw something up. I'm thinking of getting the $46 case here from newegg (hope that worked). I looked at the pic of the psu (it's a little fuzzy) but it looks like its 165W for +3.3V and +5V and 300W total. Is this enough for an 1800+ XP? If not, anyone know where I can find a really cheap one, I'm trying to keep my cost down to under $300 for the processor, case, motherboard, and psu. Thanks a lot in advance.

AMD XP Recommended PSU

Take a look at the above link to see if that particular PSU is in AMD's list. Honestly I don't think there would be any problems running an XP 1800+ on that PSU, but I am not sure. I had my 1800+ running at 1.6 (1900+) on an Antec 250W PSU.

Well I checked the list already before this and all the enlight approved supplies are 320W, not the one that comes with this case. It looks like theres some approved psus with as low as 150W combined power that are ok for 1800+ XP though, so that's a promising sight.

I have that case (well the Enlight 7237 I believe, looks exactly like that one) 300W working with a P4 (needs tons of power) and lots of peripherals. It works great, no problems whatsoever. 300W is enough, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

thanks for the help jiffylube, and at $46 who can beat this case, especially with newegg's service. 🙂

Cant say that I totally agree with Jiffy...

I had QuietSystems 300w supply and I could hear the HSF alter its speed according to how much I taxed the system (having every PCI maxed out and clock'd lots of fans... you get the pic?) I had fairly frequent crashes, so I swifted to Enermax 430w and voila! no more of the unexpected crashes. I seriously doubt the jiffy-statement to be entirely true, depends on what else you have in, how much you want to clock etc, etc...
