Will these run 800 4-4-4-12 in my P5B

1) That would probably work, but the easiest way to be sure is to buy memory advertised as DDR2-800 4-4-4-12.

2) Why do you need 4-4-4-12 timings?

Don't need those timings but DDR2 is pretty cheap and if I can get them for another $20 or so why not? Plus if they don't work I'll have lots of headroom for running 5-5-5-18.

Well my point is that 4-4-4-12 aren't worth an extra $20. It just doesn't make enough of a difference (or any at all really) in actual performance.

Once I see the price difference I can make that decision with more clarity.

For $20 extra it would be worth if for me for the 1 to 3% speed increase claimed by Anandtech.

Stick with your original thought. They will allow overhead room for overclocking. I recently picked up a pair of GSkill PC 7200 or DDR2 900 that run @ 4.4.4.12 which says to me the IC's are high bin chips.

I really cannot recommend Crucial though...their reliability has been utterly horrible of late, even on the newer non-D9GMH kits.
