A few weeks? no way! I'm like the flash!

It seems as though people here on AT now recognize who I am. I must be spending too much time on Anandtech instead of working ;)

Rig looks ok to me. I checked out usenet complaints for the A7N8X and there didn't seem to be that many problems. Personally, I'd got with the 9700 instead of such a fancy case/power supply.

Its not for me its for a friend.

Personally I could give a rip what my case looked like as long as I had top of the line stuff on the inside. ;)

Someone recommended that my friend drop one of the 120GB drives, a stick of ram, and the 9500Pro for a 9800Pro. Anyone else agree with this?

Unless you spend your days burning DV I would go with the 9800. The 256 MB is probably not worth it.
I'm going to look at the FX5900 as well.

As for the case not being important? Aside from cooling/ventilation and expansion you have to figure the case is just a small percentage of the total cost of the system plus you can use it for your next upgrade. So I don't mind paying for a nice case. I just wouldn't pay for a Falcon nor a window...and no intentions of modding the case either.
Xaser are excellent cases but I prefer the simpler design of the Lian Li.

Case and PSU come to around $300

What 256MB? He'd be dropping 512MB.

Dropping the Raptor would not allow for the upgrade to the 9800Pro and is not going to happen.

What is he going to mainly use this for? I would reccomend dropping one of the hard drives and upping the video to either a 9700 pro or 9800 non pro whenever it comes out. What if he were to drop the raptor and do a raid setup to get performance better than the raptor with the two hard 120GB drives?
